WE ARE IN THIS TOGETHER

COVID-19 2023 UPDATE:
MUA IS NOW IN-PERSON AND ONLINE!

MUA is committed to protecting the health of our students and staff by minimizing any contribution to the spread of the virus and ensuring business continuity to the best of our abilities. We want to share with you some information about these ongoing efforts.

For the year 2022-2023, our team is ready to welcome your child back to school in-person or virtually.

When registering your child, you may choose from the following two learning options:

1. In-person Learning

Below are a few school-opening new protocols and practices to be aware of:

Students in Grades Kindergarten to 12 are required to wear masks indoors, including in hallways and during classes. Masks are not required while outdoors.

Elementary students will be grouped together in a cohort for the full day.

Our goal is to ensure physical distancing takes place in classrooms as much as possible.

No microwaves will be used this year due to COVID-19.

Daily COVID-19 self-assessments are required for staff and students before entering the school.

Enhanced health and safety protocols, including cleaning practices, are in effect.

Physical education is permitted with modifications.

Zuhur Salah will be conducted at a distance and all students are required to bring their own prayer mat to school daily.

Ventilation and air quality upgrades that meet and/or exceed Ministry guidance in classrooms are implemented. This includes new portable HEPA air purification units added to all classrooms.

2. Virtual Learning

Enroll your child for online learning through which they will learn from home, logging in to class using our exclusive virtual and collaborative learning platform.

We believe that all learners can thrive in digital classrooms that are engaging, learning-focused and inclusive. Our exclusive online learning platform allows students to enjoy rich and interactive online content, preparing them for their future in an increasingly digital world.

Share this information with friends and family who are also interested in continuing their child's education, and be sure to take advantage of our referral program.

Technological Equipment Required

Computer desktop or laptop with a functional microphone and speaker (webcam not required).

Access to a stable internet connection.

Behavourial Guidelines for Online Classrooms

While online schooling may be different from the in-classroom experience, all students are expected to follow the MUA Code of Conduct. We will focus on prevention, early intervention with progressive discipline, and restorative practices as the key to maintaining a positive, safe, welcoming, respectful, and accessible virtual learning environment in which students can learn and educators can teach.

When inappropriate behaviour occurs, all staff members will utilize a range of interventions that focus on improving behaviour. Necessary action will be taken immediately, which may include being removed from the classroom and/or school. Please refer to the MUA Netiquette Guidelines for Online Classrooms and the following student expectations to have a conversation with your child about good online behaviour.

Student Expectations

Be engaged in your classroom activities and ask for help if needed.

Complete your assigned work to the best of your ability.

Protect your classroom links and only access your classroom with your full name.

Be on your best behaviour in the online classroom by following the Nettiquete guidelines and engage like the well-mannered student you are!

Parents'/Guardian's Expectations

Be engaged in your child’s learning.

Support your child to complete their work to the best of their ability.

Encourage your child to participate respectfully and remind them of the Netiquette Guidelines.

Allow the virtual classroom/live sessions to be focused between the teacher and student. Save your questions and/or comments for a follow up email.

Routinely check your child’s Google Classroom as teachers may be uploading homework/assignments for students to complete.

Check your email regularly for any new announcements.

We thank you for your adaptability. It has been truly remarkable to see our MUA community working to build connections and learn together. We pray for your families to remain in good health and positive circumstances. May Allah protect our families, children, community members, and the entire Ummah, Ameen.

If you have any questions regarding your child’s academic learning, please contact your child's principal by email. If it is an office matter, please email mail@mua.ca
